How can we help?

Frequently asked questions

What is FBR Digital Invoicing?+

Under FBR's Digital Invoicing regime, sales tax registered businesses that are notified by FBR report each sales tax invoice electronically to FBR at the time of supply. FBR returns an invoice number that is printed on the invoice together with a QR code. Check FBR's notifications for whether and from when your business is covered.

Can I change an invoice after FBR accepted it?+

No. An invoice accepted by FBR is final. To correct it, open the invoice and click Create Credit Note, then credit the affected lines and quantities. Debit notes are available in the invoice editor for additional charges.

Can I test without sending real invoices?+

Yes. Choose the sandbox environment in FBR Settings with your sandbox token. Sandbox invoices are checked by FBR but are not legally binding. Never use production for tests.

Do I need my NTN to register?+

No. You register with your company name, business email, mobile number and a password. Your NTN (or CNIC), STRN, address and province are asked in the setup wizard after your email is verified, because FBR needs them on every invoice.

Plans, allowances and renewals+

Your subscription page shows your plan, invoice allowance, used and remaining invoices and the renewal date. Reaching the allowance never deletes anything: you can still view, download and print all your invoices; new submissions resume after renewal or an upgrade.

QR code and FBR invoice number on the PDF+

The QR code encodes the FBR invoice number and is printed on the invoice PDF once FBR has accepted the invoice. Drafts and pending invoices have no FBR number yet, so their PDF has no QR code. Download, print or email the PDF from the invoice page.

Where do I get my FBR security token?+

The security token is issued by PRAL for FBR, through the IRIS portal (Digital Invoicing) or your licensed integrator. You first receive a sandbox token for testing; the production token is issued after your integration is authorised.

Paste the token in FBR Settings > Credentials and click Test connection. Tokens are never displayed again. See the FBR Integration Guide.

Why was my invoice rejected?+

The invoice page shows FBR's message in plain language and, when possible, how to fix it. Common causes:

  • Buyer details: NTN/CNIC format, province, or registration type not matching FBR.
  • HS code and unit: the FBR unit must be one allowed for the HS code.
  • Rate and sale type: the rate must belong to the sale type and your province.
  • SRO references: reduced-rate and exempt supplies may need an SRO schedule and item.

After correcting the cause, submit the invoice again. FBR registered nothing for a rejected invoice, so it is not reported twice.
