FBR Integration Guide

Connecting your business to FBR Digital Invoicing

What you need from FBR/PRAL, how to test in the sandbox and how to move to production.

1. How FBR Digital Invoicing works

FBR's Digital Invoicing (DI) system receives each sales tax invoice electronically at the time of supply. When FBR accepts an invoice it returns an FBR invoice number, which is printed on the invoice with a QR code.

FBR Cloud connects to the DI API published by PRAL (technical specification v1.12) on your behalf, using the security token issued to your business.

2. Credentials you need

  • NTN (or CNIC for individuals) of your business, registered with FBR.
  • Sandbox security token issued by PRAL through the IRIS portal for testing.
  • Production security token issued after your integration is authorised.

Request the tokens from the FBR IRIS portal (Digital Invoicing section) or through your licensed integrator. FBR Cloud never asks for your IRIS password.

3. Testing in the sandbox

  1. Complete your company profile (NTN, address, province).
  2. Open FBR Settings, choose Sandbox, paste the sandbox token and save.
  3. Click Test connection. The status becomes Sandbox Pending.
  4. Create and submit test invoices for the scenarios that apply to your business. After an accepted sandbox invoice the status becomes Connection Verified.

4. Moving to production

  1. Obtain your production token from PRAL/FBR once your sandbox scenarios are complete.
  2. In FBR Settings, choose Production, paste the token and test the connection.
  3. The status shows Production Authorization Pending until MRM Techsol has confirmed your authorisation; then it becomes Production Ready and production submissions are enabled.

Production invoices are legally binding. Never send test invoices to production.

5. Invoice statuses

  • Draft: not posted yet; you can still change it.
  • Pending: posted and being sent to FBR, or waiting for a retry.
  • Submitted: accepted by FBR; FBR number and QR code available.
  • Rejected: FBR refused it; the message explains what to correct.
  • Unknown - Reconciliation Required: no definite answer was received (for example a timeout). The invoice is checked before any new attempt so it is never reported twice.

6. Common rejections

Most rejections concern the buyer (NTN/CNIC, province, registration type) or a line (HS code, unit, rate, SRO). The invoice page shows FBR's message and how to fix it. See the Invoice Rejections articles.
